An employee of the Whole Foods store in Hastings Ranch has died due to COVID-19, the company said Friday. The store is located at 3751 E. Foothill Blvd.

The woman passed away on May 8, 2020, according to a Whole Foods statement. The company had announced the woman was sick just two days before her death.

“As a community, we are mourning the loss of a beloved member of our Pasadena Foothill store team,” the statement said. “Our hearts are with her family and friends as we all grieve this terrible loss. We are supporting her fellow Team Members by providing counseling support in the days ahead.”

The company originally announced the woman tested positive for coronavirus in a May 6 statement.

At that time, Whole Foods said “we have implemented enhanced daily cleanliness and disinfection protocols … on top of our standard stringent protocols. We are closing stores up to two hours early to give our team members more time to restock shelves, sanitize our stores, and rest in preparation for the next day.”

Meanwhile, on Friday the City of Pasadena announced there had been no new deaths of Pasadenans from coronavirus over the previous 24 hours. The city has experienced 670 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 69 deaths related to the coronavirus.
