The pop up will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is hosted by local Jazzy Jam for Empowerment in coordination with sponsors Becca’s Closet, Macy’s Gives, and the AT&T Pioneer.
“We’re doing this again because we want to make sure our girls are okay. They’re getting these dresses,” Jacqueline Snell from Jazzy Jam for Empowerment said.
Snell said there will be volunteers who will assist the girls in finding the right dress for them.
“We’ll have influencers there to help you make a decision because sometimes people can’t really see what it is.”
Aside from dresses, jewelry and brand new make up will also be given out to girls.
Snell said therapists will also be present at the booth to encourage the young women getting ready for prom.
“If there’s someone they want to talk to or some things that are on their mind, and they want to be encouraged, we will have therapists there as well as other purpose supporters to support our teens for the day as they get ready for the big day.”
Those interested in coming are required to RSVP at info@jazzyjamforempowerment.org until noon on Friday, April 21.
They will need to register and give their name and dress sizes.
“We’re finding that we’re getting a lot of people who have certain dress sizes and we want to make sure that we accommodate and get everybody what they need and make them comfortable.”
Last year, organizers were able to give away 250 prom dresses.
“I’m not sure what we’re going to do this year. We’re just waiting to see who receives it and comes in and we’ll be there,” said Snell.
