The City Council unanimously approved the proposed terms for at-large members of the newly created Pasadena Rental Housing Board (PRHB).
Last April 19, the City Council appointed four at-large members, seven tenant members and two alternate members of PRHB.
Pursuant to City Charter Section 1811 (d), “two of the at-large appointees initially appointed shall serve for four years; the terms of the remaining initial at-large appointees shall be two years.”
As approved by the Council, Lourdes Gonzalez and Arnold Siegel will serve four-year terms while Allison Henry and Adela Torres will serve two-year terms.
The seven tenant members appointed last April 19 were Emmanuel Najera (District 1), Dianne Romero Chavez (District 2), Brandon Lamar (District 3), Barbara Pitts (District 4), Yaneli Soriano Santiago (District 5), Ryan Bell (District 6) and Deborah Dunlop (District 7).
Appointees from Districts 1, 2, 4 and 6 will serve four year terms while those from Districts 3, 5 and 7 will serve 2-year terms.
Peter Dreier, appointed as the Alternate At-Large Member and Aaron Markowitz, appointed as Alternate Tenant Member will serve a four-year initial term in accordance with City Charter.
Mayor Victor Gordo, who owns a rental property in the city, recused himself from voting.
The PRHB which will have the power to administer and enforce Measure H – the rent control charter amendment approved by 54% of Pasadena voters last year.
The board is expected to hold its first meeting on May 17.
