The Hearing Officer of the City of Pasadena will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 16, starting at 6 p.m. to hear three minor cases and one regular case.
The public meeting will be held at the Hearing Room of the Permit Center, located at 175 North Garfield Ave. in Pasadena. It will not be televised or livestreamed.
Minor cases are requests for minor deviations from the zoning code that do not significantly affect the surrounding properties or the general public. Regular cases are requests for major deviations from the zoning code that require more analysis and public input.
Among the minor cases, at 110 East Holly Street, the applicant seeks a Variance for Historic Resources to allow a lower ceiling height at the historic structure, which property records showed was built in 1902 as a “baled hay warehouse”; the name of the original owner, “J. Cazaurang,” is still inscribed on the brick wall. The building, according to the application, is being converted from an Office, Administrative Business Professional use to a Communications Facility use.
At 1239 Dominion Ave., the applicant seeks a Minor Variance to allow a smaller front setback for a single-story addition to a single-family residence.
At 169 W. Colorado Blvd., a Minor Conditional Use Permit is being sought to allow the operation of a limited vehicle sales and leasing service within an existing tenant space.
At 515 Champlain Ave., a Minor Variance is being sought to allow a smaller front yard setback in order to add two additional units to an existing five-unit multi-family residential project.
The regular case is about 101 E. Green Street where a Conditional Use Permit is being sought to allow the operation of a restaurant with alcohol sales and live entertainment within the space.
On Wednesday, the Hearing Officer will hear testimony from the applicants, staff from the Department of Planning and Community Development, and any interested parties. The Hearing Officer will then make a decision based on the findings and conditions of approval for each case.
Members of the public may attend the meeting and provide comments on the cases. Written comments may also be submitted to the Hearing Officer prior to the meeting by mail or email.
