The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped for the sixth consecutive day Sunday, falling two-tenths of a cent to $4.605.

The average price is 2.7 cents less than one week ago, 17.7 cents less than one month ago and 53.6 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.889 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the eighth straight day, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.474. It is 3.2 cents less than one week ago, 4.1 cents less than one month ago and 35.7 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.542 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“The oil market is volatile, and the threat of a hurricane impacting production and refining will certainly grab its attention,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “Add in the rising tensions in the Middle East, and oil prices are poised to push higher.”
