A Noise Within, a leading regional theatre located in East Pasadena, has appointed three new members to its Board of Directors: retired Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Julie Fox Blackshaw, former Kirkland & Ellis partner Rick Madden and actor and voice teacher Leilani Jones Wilmore.
The appointments strengthen the company’s governance as it produces classical works in its state-of-the-art, 324-seat venue.
The Los Angeles Times has called A Noise Within “an oasis for those who love classic stories.” The award-winning resident company operates robust education programs aimed at inspiring diverse audiences of all ages.
Blackshaw, a longtime subscriber and supporter, brings legal expertise from her career on the Los Angeles County Superior Court bench. She earned her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law after completing her undergraduate degree at Stanford University.
Madden, a Pasadena resident and retired Kirkland & Ellis partner, specialized in mergers and acquisitions, out-of-court restructurings and securities offerings. He was recognized by Chambers USA for Corporate/Private Equity work, listed in U.S. News and World Report’s Best Lawyers for Mergers and Acquisitions Law from 2016-2022, and named to Law360’s list of Private Equity MVPs. His family has attended the company’s annual “A Christmas Carol” production since its move to Pasadena.
Wilmore, a San Marino-based actor and voice teacher, first discovered A Noise Within when accompanying her child to a student matinee. She has attended performances regularly since then, becoming a major donor and student matinee sponsor for the upcoming “Jane Eyre” production.
The organization maintains a commitment to representing the entire community and working hard on anti-racist practices across all operations, while engaging audiences through community and artist-centered work in multiple creative disciplines.
