Through the sponsorship of East West Bank, the Pasadena Police Activities League (PALS) and First Tee – Greater Pasadena teamed up to host a golf clinic at the Brookside Golf Club. The recent event allowed PALS youth participants to receive golf instruction and experience the sport for the first time.

“First Tee – Greater Pasadena is very grateful to East West Bank for their generous community support and sponsorship that provides youth such as PALS participants the opportunity to impact their lives by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf,” said a First Tee – Greater Pasadena official.

First Tee – Greater Pasadena is a youth development organization that introduces children and teenagers to the game of golf while simultaneously teaching them valuable life skills and character-building lessons.

The organization operates as a chapter of the larger First Tee network and is based at the Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena, California. Their mission is to impact the lives of young people in the Greater Pasadena area by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

The organization’s approach involves integrating golf with a life skills curriculum to create active learning experiences, developing inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience in participants, offering affordable access to all youth, and providing mentorship through over 40 coaches who work with more than 5,000 registered youth.

First Tee – Greater Pasadena has made significant strides in youth development, with over 70,000 youth experiencing their Life Skills Curriculum in schools since 2008 and more than 750 registered participants recognized as A/B Honor Roll Students since 2014. The program promotes respect, education, character development, and healthy lifestyles among participants.

The golf clinic provided PALS participants with their first exposure to the sport, allowing them to learn the fundamentals and core values associated with golf, such as respect, confidence, honesty, and courtesy. The event was part of the long-standing partnership between PALS and First Tee – Greater Pasadena, which has been actively involved in hosting these types of golf clinics since the inception of the local First Tee chapter.
