The float, titled “Good Day Dreamin’,” transforms Northrup Elementary fourth-grader Chelsea Yeung’s winning artwork into an elaborate display featuring a terrier mix, sunflowers, and vibrant kites.
The Phoenix Decorating Company has incorporated natural materials, including rice, parsley, coffee, and cranberry seeds, to construct the intricate floral arrangements adorning the float.
This year’s entry perfectly aligns with the parade’s theme “Best Day Ever!” while highlighting Alhambra’s upcoming permanent dog park project near the Alhambra Golf Course.
The new dog park initiative gained substantial community backing during a 2023 Paw-Pup Dog Park pilot program and gathered support from more than 1,300 local residents.
The float’s design integrates symbolic elements of the City’s character, including an Alhambra neon sign.
Located near Downtown Los Angeles, Alhambra has maintained its presence in the Rose Parade since 1929, demonstrating nearly a century of commitment to showcasing local talent.
The annual student art contest that produced Yeung’s winning design exemplifies Alhambra’s dedication to fostering creativity across generations in its diverse community.
Yeung, who attends Northrup Elementary, will join members of the Alhambra City Council during the parade as the float makes its way down Colorado Boulevard.
More than just being a parade entry, the float celebrates Alhambra’s vibrant neighborhoods, multicultural heritage, and commitment to community engagement.
The City has opened volunteer opportunities for community members to participate in decorating the float, with registration available through the official City website.
Alhambra’s planned Paw-Pup Dog Park is scheduled to open in late 2025.
