The Pasadena Police Officers Association will deliver an information-only presentation about its mission, history and agenda to the Community Police Oversight Committee on Thursday, highlighting its role as the recognized bargaining unit for officers, corporals and sergeants of the Pasadena Police Department.

The Association, led by President Mike Gligorijevic, operates similarly to other bargaining units within the City structure. It functions as a nonprofit organization funded by member dues and community donations. The membership elects board members to represent their interests.

The Association advocates for fair wages, benefits, training, equipment, working conditions and due process representation for its members.

According to information prepared for the committee, the organization collaborates with police department leadership and City staff to negotiate, administer and implement the Memorandum of Understanding between officers and the City.

The Pasadena Police Officers Association provides several key services, including contract negotiations to ensure competitive wages, equipment and working conditions; legal representation for duty-related legal matters, including defense insurance and long-term disability coverage; and liaison efforts with City council, courts, and state and federal elected officials.

The Association allocates funds for collective bargaining efforts, legal representation, member services and community engagement. Its Political Action Committee also supports various initiatives.

“The Pasadena Police Officers Association is proud to give back to the Pasadena community, supporting education, safety, and well-being for all,” the presentation materials state.

The organization’s scholarship program awards multiple scholarships annually to dependents of current or retired Pasadena police officers and students from Pasadena high schools pursuing careers in law enforcement. To date, the Pasadena Police Officers Association has awarded over $60,000 in scholarships.

The presentation also hails the Association’s charitable contributions to numerous local organizations including the Pasadena Police Department Foundation, Pasadena Education Foundation, Pasadena Police Activities League, District 3 Community Backpack School Giveaway, Ronald McDonald House Pasadena Gala, Salvation Army Thanksgiving Dinner Deliveries, Black History Parade, Latino Heritage Parade & Festival, and Eaton Fire Victims Relief.

The Association Board includes Vice President Robert Griffith, Secretary Michael Arellanes, Treasurer David Killgore, and members David Llanes, Aaron Villicana, Thomas Corralez and Kyle Hazen.
