Motorists traveling westbound on Interstate 210 through Pasadena should prepare for intermittent lane reductions and off-ramp closures between Marengo Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue through the summer, according to Caltrans District 7 officials.

They said the traffic disruptions are necessary for ongoing soundwall construction as part of Metro’s ‘Soundwall Package 10: City of Pasadena’ project.

The lane reductions and ramp closures will occur Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., officials said.

Metro’s contractor, C.A. Rasmussen, is conducting soundwall construction activities on Maple Street between Lake Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue and on Corson Street between Los Robles Avenue and Wilson Avenue.

Construction activities include intermittent shoulder and ramp closures during non-peak traffic hours to set up temporary construction safety barriers, material delivery/removal, backfill/grading/excavation, rebar/pile/form work/masonry installation, and concrete placement operations for soundwall construction, according to project details on Metro’s website.

The work schedule will maintain through traffic with lane reductions on Maple Street between Lake Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue. Similar traffic conditions will be implemented on Corson Street between Los Robles Avenue and Wilson Avenue with through traffic maintained during construction hours.

Advanced warning signage and detour information is planned along affected routes to guide motorists through the construction zones. Emergency responder access will be maintained throughout the duration of the project, according to Metro’s construction notice.

Officials said that all ramps will reopen before peak traffic hours. Local access and pedestrian pathways will remain open during the construction activities, allowing residents to navigate the affected areas.

Metro cautioned that construction is a dynamic process and is subject to weather conditions, noting that closure dates and information are subject to change. Motorists are advised to visit the project website at metro.net/soundwall10 for the most current information and future scheduled activities.
