The application period to file papers to run for a seat on the Altadena Town Council (ATC) elections has begun.

Running for Altadena Town Council and voting in this local election is important to our community,” said Veronica Jones, chair of the Town Council’s election committee. “The community needs your engagement and your vote. If you live in Altadena, run.”

The ATC serves as an advisory body to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Papers must be turned in by Oct. 6. The ATC has been in existence since 1975 and in the first election, more than 1,500 ballots were cast for two seats.

There are two council members per census tract. The council meets every third Tuesday of every month.

Election materials, rules, and regulations can be found on the Altadena Town Council website: http://altadenatowncouncil.org.

The deadline for applying is Oct 6. Election dates are Nov. 3 and Nov. 7.

The Election Committee consists of Town Council members and community members. Committee members are Antonio Becerra, Bridget Brewster, Karen Gibson, Gloria Sanyika, Victoria Knapp, Nick Santangelo, and Veronica Jones. Jones serves as Election Committee chairperson.
