The Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena is supporting Day One’s Cherishing Children Holiday Toy Drive, a community effort entering its 16th year of providing gifts to local families.

Day One, a Pasadena organization, launched the annual celebration in 2008 during the economic downturn. The inaugural event served over 500 children.

The nonprofit continues the tradition as economic challenges persist for many area families.

“It is our hope that this small and simple toy drive will once again help the families and youth most in need,” Day One states on its website.

Community members can participate in several ways. Organizations can host toy drives at workplaces or schools. Individuals may purchase items from an Amazon wishlist or donate money online.

The Armory is helping spread awareness through social media. The arts center encourages supporters to visit its link to access the donation portal, https://linktr.ee/DOCherishingChildren.

Families interested in receiving toys must complete a registration form. Only one application per household is allowed. Visit bit.ly/cherishing-children to register.

Day One operates Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Questions can be directed to jennifer@godayone.org. The organization’s main line is (626) 229-9750.
