Caltech defeated the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen 5-2 on Saturday, extending its home winning streak to seven games in a day full of decisive victories.

The Beavers have not lost at home since March 2, a week before the start of daylight saving time and 18 days prior to the start of Spring.

Caltech earned the first point on Saturday, sweeping the doubles matches. Sophomores Constantin Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne (Paris / Lycée Jean de La Fontaine) and Tejas Ram (Allen, Texas / Allen) made short work of their set, winning in 28 minutes. The attention on the courts then turned to a heavyweight matchup between two regional top-10 pairs. The Beaver pair of junior Andrew Zabelo (Florham Park, N.J. / Newark Academy) and sophomore Eric He (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), the No.8 pair in the west, beat the No. 6 pair in the region 6-3.

Beaver senior Aditya Srinivasan (Rochester, N.Y. / Pittsford Sutherland) and first-year Kenneth Chan (Hinsdale, Ill. / Pine Crest) paired up to complete the doubles sweep, winning the set tiebreak 12-10 in a 55-minute thriller.

The Beavers kept the brooms out with three sweeps on the single side of the slate. Ram completed his dominant afternoon winning 6-2, 6-2 for his fifth consecutive singles victory. The sophomore has not lost in the month of April. His teammate, He, lost just two games in his singles sweep. Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne lost just four singles games, easily dispatching his opponent in straight sets. All three had their matches done and dusted in under an hour and 20 minutes.

Caltech’s fifth point of the day came courtesy of yet another sophomore, Marco Yang (Fremont, Calif. / Mission San Jose), who decisively won a super-tiebreaker, 10-4, after splitting the first two sets.

Caltech will wrap its regular season schedule at home against No. 18 University of Redlands on Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m.
