A burglary suspect was apprehended late Monday night after a police canine unit tracked him down inside a Colorado Boulevard business, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau.
Officers responded to a burglary alarm at 11:42 p.m. in the 1400 block of West Colorado Boulevard, Campeau said. During a search of the premises, a police dog reportedly alerted officers to the suspect’s hiding place inside the building.
When the suspect refused to comply with officers’ commands, the canine was then deployed and the suspect was taken into custody, Campeau said.
The suspect, identified as Robert Astorga, 36, of Highland Park, sustained minor injuries during the arrest and was treated by Pasadena Fire Dept. paramedics at the scene, according to Campeau.
Astorga was arrested on felony charges, including commercial burglary. Campeau noted that the suspect also had a no-bail warrant for a parole violation.
No weapons were reported to have been found on the suspect, Campeau said.
