The City Council Chambers closed after Monday’s meeting for an update to the facility’s cabling and a potential revamp of the dais area.

One meeting will be held at an alternate location on January 13.

For that meeting, city officials announced the council will convene at the Robinson Park Recreation Center in the multipurpose room, located in the northwest area of the city. The change is temporary, with the council chambers set to reopen following the renovations.

Additionally, the public safety committee meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, will also take place at Robinson Park in the same multipurpose room.

“We are going to be doing an update and modification of the cabling that goes into the council chamber and maybe a little revamp around the dais,” said Mayor Victor Gordo. “So our next council meeting, which will be on January 13th, will be at the Robinson Park Recreation Center in the multipurpose room. So we’ll be up in the Northwest for one meeting. So we’ll see you there.”

Council is dark for the next three weeks for the holidays. The Council will also be dark on June 20 in honor of the King Holiday.
