An anticipated rainstorm will finally arrive today, with Pasadena expected to see pockets of light rain through noon followed by steady rain developing in the afternoon, National Weather Service forecasters said.
The rain will persist intermittently — perhaps heavy at times — through the holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
2 to 3 inches of rain will likely fall Thursday and Friday. A second system riding in on the active storm track threatens to dampen Christmas day as well, the NWS said.
At the same time, temperatures will drop significantly below the norm, with Christmas topping out at just 55.
The forecast came with cautions for travelers.
“Moderate rain could create slick roads and travel delays along with high mountain snow accumulations and gusty winds,” forecasters said. “Additional rain and lowering snow levels could impact travel this holiday weekend.”
Pasadena Fire Station 37, at 3430 E. Foothill Blvd., and Station 38, at 1150 Linda Vista Ave., will offer up to 10 sandbags per resident. Fire personnel will be on hand to assist with loading sand into bags if not responding to a call.
