The City of Pasadena announced Colorado Boulevard will close to motor vehicles earlier than in prior years for the 2025 Tournament of Roses Parade, with closures beginning at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31.

The changes aim to provide additional time for parade staging and preparation, with the boulevard remaining closed through the conclusion of staging and clean-up following the parade.

The closure will affect Colorado Boulevard through downtown Pasadena until approximately 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1.

Officials have designated several alternate routes to help manage traffic flow during the closure period (See map above)

Motorists can use Walnut Street or the 210 freeway for east-west travel north of Colorado Boulevard, while Del Mar Boulevard or Cordova Street serve as southern alternatives.

The City has established specific crossing points for north-south travel between 10 p.m. on December 31 and 6 a.m. on January 1, with crossing locations noted on the official map.

A New Year’s Eve 5K race at midnight Tuesday will create additional temporary closures from Pasadena Avenue to Hill Street. Eight major intersections along the race route will close to cross traffic at 11 p.m. and reopen at the end of the race: Pasadena Avenue, El Molino Avenue, Fair Oaks Avenue, Marengo Avenue, Los Robles Avenue, El Molino Avenue, Lake Avenue, and Wilson Avenue.

Property owners and merchants along Colorado Boulevard planning to host events, viewing parties, or expecting vendor deliveries must ensure their guests and vendors arrive before the 10 p.m. closure. Those unable to arrive before closure must park in areas without restricted parking and walk to their destinations.

For assistance during the event, residents can call (626) 577-6426 for questions about towed vehicles between 5 p.m. on December 31, 2024, and 6 p.m. on January 1, 2025.

For questions about closures and access, the Visitor Hotline is available at (877) 793-9911.
