A cooling trend will begin in Pasadena on Saturday, gradually lowering daytime temperatures from the upper 90s to the mid-80s by late next week, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters said the shift follows days of above-normal heat and is driven by increasing onshore flow and a shallow marine layer. While temperatures will remain warmer than seasonal averages, the change marks a break from the recent mini-heat wave.
Friday’s high is expected to reach 97 degrees under sunny skies.
Pasadena residents can expect air quality to remain within generally healthy ranges Friday, though conditions may vary depending on smoke drift from regional wildfires, according to state and local agencies.
The National Weather Service in Oxnard said light westerly winds could carry upper-level smoke into the San Gabriel Valley from active fires in Southern California. While most of the smoke is predicted to remain aloft, brief periods of haze or reduced visibility may occur in the late afternoon and evening, particularly near the San Gabriel Mountains.
Winds will be light and variable early, becoming southwest at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Clouds will build overnight, with a low around 66 degrees.
Saturday will begin with patchy fog before skies clear. The high will reach 91 degrees, with southwest winds at 5 to 10 mph. Sunday will be sunny with a high near 94 degrees and light afternoon winds.
Temperatures will continue to drop by 1 to 3 degrees daily through the weekend. Monday’s high is forecast at 91 degrees, and by Thursday, highs will fall to 86 degrees. Overnight lows will remain in the low to mid-60s.
No rain is expected in Pasadena through next week. Patchy morning fog is forecast from Saturday through Thursday, especially in areas affected by coastal influence.
Winds will stay light, with afternoon breezes reaching up to 10 mph. Calm conditions are expected overnight. Gusty winds may develop in Santa Barbara County and the Interstate 5 Corridor early next week, but Pasadena is not expected to be affected.
Weekend conditions will be warm but slightly cooler than recent days. Saturday’s high of 91 degrees and Sunday’s 94 degrees remain above average, but signal the start of a broader cooling trend.
Tuesday and Wednesday will see highs near 93 degrees with patchy morning fog. By Thursday, highs will drop to 86 degrees, continuing the cooling trend into next weekend.
