There are only two City Council meetings remaining this year. The City Council will be dark on Monday but will return on Dec. 9 and 16.
At the Dec. 9 organizational meeting, Mayor Victor Gordo will be sworn in along with incumbents Tyron Hampton, Justin Jones, and Steve Madison. Rick Cole will become the new District 2 Councilmember.
The addition of Cole, who won the District 2 election in March, means a new City Council will be at the dais. A new vice mayor is also scheduled to be elected by the City Council that evening.
The meeting will open and honor outgoing Councilmember Felicia Williams before adjourning for the swearing-in ceremony. The new City Council will then convene.
A public hearing is scheduled to discuss a Substantial Amendment to the 2019 and 2024 Annual Action Plan for Community Development Block Grant and Home Investment Partnership Funds.
The amendment would allow the City to reallocate $256,365 in Home Investment Partnerships Act funding made available through the American Rescue Plan Act, and $680,000 in unspent Community Development Block Grant funds.
Funds would be used to enhance security at Robinson Park, upgrades to the Villa Parke locker room, sidewalk improvements in Northwest Pasadena, and managing Home Investment Partnerships Act-funded projects.
Since its inception in 1974, the Community Development Block Grant is one of the longest-running Housing and Urban Development programs. The program provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs.
Council will be dark on Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 in honor of Christmas and New Year’s.
