Pasadena District 6 City Councilmember Steve Madison has organized a town hall meeting focused largely on the City’s fire prevention efforts following January’s devastating Eaton Fire.
The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, April 24, will take place at the Pasadena Convention Center from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
Representatives from multiple city departments will present on Pasadena’s fire prevention efforts, including the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department, Fire Department, Police Department, Pasadena Transit, Emergency Services, as will City Manager Miguel Márquez.
“Following the devastating Eaton Fire in January 2025, Pasadena city officials launched a comprehensive series of fire prevention and recovery efforts to safeguard public health and restore affected neighborhoods,” according to the meeting announcement.
The city’s response has included mandatory hazardous debris removal from fire-damaged properties, environmental testing for toxins such as lead and asbestos, and new public health guidance to prevent exposure to contaminants. Officials also implemented a temporary leaf blower ban to reduce the spread of dust and ash in impacted areas.
Several guest speakers will discuss other topics.
Daniel Rossman, recently appointed executive director of the One Arroyo Foundation, will speak at the town hall. Rossman, who began his tenure in January, brings over two decades of experience in public policy advocacy and environmental conservation, including 16 years at The Wilderness Society.
Steve Mulheim, president and CEO of the Old Pasadena Management District since 2006, rounds out the program. Mulheim recently presented the district’s renewal plans on April 16 to the Pasadena Economic Development and Technology Committee, advocating for small businesses that make up approximately 75% of Old Pasadena’s establishments.
The town hall will be held in Room 211 of the Pasadena Convention Center at 300 E. Green St.
