The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday, Dec. 3, to consider key initiatives aimed at addressing housing, economic mobility, and equity issues across the region. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Board Hearing Room at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 500 W. Temple St.

The meeting will open with an invocation by John McCall, founder of D’Veal Family and Youth Services in Pasadena, followed by a presentation arranged by Supervisor Kathryn Barger as part of the County’s pet adoption program.

The session will include the Board’s annual reorganization, featuring the election of a Chair Pro Tem for the upcoming year. This process, labeled as Item I on the agenda, is a cornerstone of the Board’s operations and sets the stage for its leadership structure in 2024-25.

Among the top agenda items is a proposal to reissue $7.6 million in tax-exempt mortgage revenue notes to support the development of Ramona Metro Point, a 51-unit affordable housing complex in El Monte, located at 11016 Ramona Blvd. The funding would finance construction and acquisition costs for the project. The proposal, submitted by Supervisor Hilda Solis, is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act. A vote on the measure is scheduled.

The Board will also review a sweeping plan to address disparities among Latino residents, including directives to study Medi-Cal and CalFresh enrollment rates, evaluate economic programs in predominantly Latino communities, and increase voter participation. The proposal outlines efforts to improve Spanish-language resources, strengthen union apprenticeship pathways, and enhance access to public services such as parks and transportation in Latino-majority neighborhoods. This is an information topic, with reports expected within 90 days.

Additionally, Supervisors will consider a framework for allocating funds to renter protections and housing initiatives in unincorporated areas. The plan includes creating a dedicated team within the Chief Executive Office’s Homeless Initiative to address housing insecurity. A 60-day timeline has been set for follow-up reports. This item is up for a vote.

Public participation is encouraged. The meeting will be available to attend in person or via livestream on the County’s website. A recorded broadcast will air on KLCS on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 11 p.m. Supporting materials for agenda items are accessible online.
