The home appears to have been a complete loss.
The Pasadena Fire Dept. was called out to the blaze in the 1200 block of Romney Drive at 10:58 a.m. and first-arriving units encountered the home fully-involved with fire, according to authorities.
The fire went to a second alarm, and firefighters worked to control the flames to prevent them from spreading to other structures in the area, City spokesperson Lisa Derderian said.
The firefighters appeared to have gained the upper hand on the fire within about 20 minutes. The blaze was knocked down at 11:30 a.m., according to Derderian.
According to online real estate records, the structure was a 1,265-square-foot, two bedroom and two-bathroom home built in 1953.
One resident was displaced. He was given a S.A.V.E. Card (Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency) for $250 to help with immediate needs, Derderian said.
A total of six engines, three trucks, two rescue ambulances, and one air utility were committed to the blaze. Pasadena Fire was joined by personnel and equipment from San Marino and Glendale Fire Depts. Pasadena Water & Power and Southern California Gas Company units assisted with utility shutoffs during the incident.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
