Hathaway-Sycamores March 28th Celebrating Children Spring Gala Postponed

Published on Saturday, March 14, 2020 | 7:21 am

Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services is postponing their Celebrating Children Spring Gala fundraiser, previously scheduled for March 28th, due to the potential risks from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in large public gatherings.

According to Hathaway-Sycamores President and CEO Debra Manners, “As information and stories related to the public health risks from COVID-19 continue to unfold, it is our responsibility to take preventative steps to help protect individuals and our communities at large, so the decision was made to postpone our Celebrating Children event.”

“At our core, Hathaway-Sycamores is a behavioral health care organization, and we have been proactively implementing an array of preventative efforts and procedures to help keep the children, adults and families we serve and our employees safe. It is critical that at this time we provide resources and comforts that our children, families and adults might need outside of our normal services. In many cases, we are their safety net. As such, we are making significant investments in ensuring continuity of our services despite potential risks. That is our mission and that is what we do.”

The event scheduled to honor two incredibly special honorees, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and local philanthropist Elizabeth Hoxworth, is not being canceled but postponed and is expected to be rescheduled for later this year.
