In the wake of the tropical storm from Hurricane Hilary, here’s a partial list of what will be open and closed in Pasadena on Monday, August 21.

All City Departments will be open on Monday and trash pick-up is scheduled to occur as normal. Residents are asked to place mixed waste, recycling, and yard waste containers on the curb as close to 7 a.m. as possible. All scheduled bulky item pick-ups for Monday will also occur.

Classes at all Pasadena Unified School District schools, Pasadena City College, and La Salle High School have been canceled and will resume on Tuesday.

Caltech Athletics facilities will also be closed on Monday due to an Institute directive in light of the ongoing tropical storm.

Los Angeles County officials have announced that all county parks, buildings, and facilities will be closed on Monday. This includes picnic shelters, playgrounds, multi-use trails, restrooms, botanical gardens and arboretums, lakes and swim beaches, pools and aquatic centers, natural areas and nature centers, and performance venues.

Officials at LAX, Hollywood/Burbank Airport, Long Beach Airport, and Orange County’s John Wayne Airport have advised travelers to check with their airlines for possible flight delays or cancellations.

The delivery service DoorDash has suspended operations in much of Southern California due to safety concerns but is expected to resume at 11 a.m. on Monday.
