A hiker was rescued from Eaton Canyon on Sunday after sustaining an upper extremity injury, according to fire officials.
Pasadena and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the incident at approximately 12:20 p.m. The injured hiker was located near a waterfall in the canyon, officials said.
Pasadena fire personnel were joined by a four member of the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team.
The hiker received on-scene treatment before being transported out of the canyon using a specialized wheel carrier.
The patient was then taken by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The extent of the hiker’s injuries was not disclosed.
Resources committed to the rescue included two engines, one truck, one rescue ambulance, one LA County squad, and one private ambulance. The incident concluded at 3:27 p.m.
Eaton Canyon, a popular hiking destination, features rugged terrain and waterfalls. Authorities remind hikers to exercise caution and be prepared for emergencies when venturing into the area.
