The committee supports the Trailblazers in Cancer Summit, an initiative focused on generating essential funding for cancer research, treatment and advocacy efforts nationwide.
“I am honored to be a part of the Trailblazers in Cancer Executive Leadership Committee. The team’s efforts are crucial in raising funding to ensure cancer patients have access to vital treatments across the care continuum,” Kaufman said in a statement.
Kaufman, who also serves as medical director of surgery services growth at Huntington Cancer Center, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai Cancer, brings decades of clinical experience and leadership to the role.
American Cancer Society officials welcomed his appointment, citing his contributions to cancer care advancement.
“We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Kaufman’s leadership and the contributions he’s made to our cause,” said Arianna Inferrera, senior development manager at the American Cancer Society. “His commitment and connections have helped push our mission forward, and his support continues to inspire and strengthen our collective efforts to drive lasting change in cancer care.”
Dr. Kaufman is board certified in general surgery with a specialty in colorectal surgery. He earned his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed several residencies and fellowships, including a colorectal surgery residency at The John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, England.
