The intersection of San Gabriel Boulevard and La Tierra Street has emerged as Pasadena’s most accident-prone location, with eight collisions reported in the six months leading up to July, according to a recent Pasadena Police Department community brief.
The report, which details traffic safety data from February to July 2024, identifies the city’s top three intersections for vehicle collisions. San Gabriel Boulevard and Del Mar Boulevard tied for second place with Pasadena Avenue and State Street, each recording five collisions during the same period.
The brief notes that this data reflects only collisions reported to the police department.
Police cited unsafe speed as the primary factor in 16.7% of all reported crashes, making it the leading cause of collisions citywide.
Failure to yield right of way, termed “Automobile Right of Way” in the report, accounted for 14.1% of accidents, while improper turning was responsible for 12.8%.
The Pasadena Police Department stated that officers continually monitor these areas to minimize collision occurrences.
“We remind everyone to slow down, stay off their phone, minimize distractions, and obey all traffic laws and signage to lessen the possibility of being involved in a collision,” the brief advised.
