A stolen Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV led Los Angeles police on a high-speed pursuit Wednesday evening that ended in Pasadena with a violent rollover crash and vehicle fire, injuring three people and prompting emergency responses across two crash sites within city limits.

The chase began around 6:45 p.m. when LAPD officers responded to a report of a stolen black G-Wagon near Century Boulevard and Figueroa Street in Los Angeles, according to KTLA and CBS Los Angeles2.

The suspect failed to yield, initiating a pursuit that traveled northbound on the 110 Freeway before exiting onto surface streets and entering Pasadena at high speeds, according to media reports.

During the pursuit, one LAPD patrol vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a building near Hill Avenue and Walnut Street. The officer involved was hospitalized with injuries, though their condition was not immediately released, according to tv news reports.

Roughly a mile away, the suspect collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Sierra Madre Boulevard and East Foothill Boulevard, according to witnesses.

The stolen SUV rolled over multiple times and caught fire, according to aerial footage from KTLA’s Sky5. Two civilians in the struck vehicle were also hospitalized.

The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended moments later by LAPD officers near the crash site.

Police have not released the suspect’s identity or any charges filed as of Thursday morning.

Pasadena Fire Dept. crews responded to both crash scenes.

Pasadena paramedics transported “a total of 3 people including one LAPD officer. The three have been transported to area hospitals with mild/moderate injuries,” Lisa Derderian, Pasadena’s Chief Communications Officer, told Pasadena Now.

LAPD has not confirmed what caused the officer’s crash or whether protocol was followed during the pursuit.
