The city of Pasadena Northwest Commission convened a special meeting on July 9 to consider approving a recommendation to award a local consulting firm $190,000 from a tax fund to prepare the Lincoln Avenue Specific Plan.
With money provided by the Pasadena Community Development Commission Lincoln Avenue tax-increment fund balance, Urban Futures, Inc., took one step closer to developing a specific plan for the Lincoln Avenue revitalization project after the city commission discussed the proposal.
The recommendation to approve the funding of a consulting agreement was forwarded to the Northwest Commission by Richard Bruckner, the city’s Director of Planning and Development.
If the proposal is ultimately approved by the city council, it will merely authorize funding to Urban Futures to devise a Specific Plan for improvements to the Lincoln Avenue Corridor.
Under the specific plan, a corridor of Lincoln Avenue between Orange Grove Boulevard and the city’s northern boundary would be zoned for capital improvement projects, allowing the area’s condition to be improved.
The Lincoln Avenue Corridor mostly abuts I-210 in the northwest portion of town.
It was estimated the study would be completed in about one year, with the consulting firm developing land use maps and coordinating data gathering in devising the specific plan.
On July 22, the proposal to hire Urban Futures will be taken up by the Lincoln Project Area Committee, while the Pasadena Community Development Commission and City Council are both expected to considere the matter on August 17.
