LIVE BLOGGING WITH EDDIE RIVERA | Dodgers Lose to Gigantes, 6-2

Two-hit loss mars opening night of 10-game home stand against Giants, Nachos and Nationals

Logan Webb baffled Los Dodgers with a precision-crafted performance Friday night, leading the Giants to a 6–2 victory at Dodger Stadium, and pulling San Francisco into a tie with Los Angeles atop the National League West.

Webb (6–5) was in complete command, tossing seven dominant innings, in which he allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out four. The right-hander neutralized the Dodgers’ potent lineup, retiring Shohei Ohtani twice and keeping the heart of the order silent all night.

“I just focused on executing every pitch,” Webb said postgame. “When you’re facing a lineup like that, you can’t afford to miss.”

The Giants gave Webb an early cushion. After a first-inning solo home run by Willy Adames, Casey Schmitt broke the game open in the third with a grand slam — the first of his career — off Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The 423-foot blast to left field stunned the sell-out home crowd and gave San Francisco a commanding 5–1 lead.

Yamamoto (6–5) labored through 4? innings, issuing a career-high five walks and surrendering six runs. It was his shortest outing in over a month and a rare stumble for the right-hander, who entered the game with a 3.29 ERA.

The Dodgers managed just two hits in the game, their only runs coming on a second-inning sacrifice fly from Will Smith and a solo homer by Teoscar Hernández in the seventh. But any hope of a comeback was extinguished when Giants catcher Andrew Knizner, in just his second start of the year, launched a solo homer in the eighth to pad the lead.

The Giants’ bullpen closed the door with two hitless innings, securing the opener of the three-game series and handing the Dodgers their third loss in five games.

With the win, San Francisco improved to 41–29, pulling even with Los Angeles in the standings but claiming the temporary edge by virtue of head-to-head record.

The series continues Saturday, with rookie Landen Roupp scheduled to start for the Giants. Veteran Clayton Kershaw, returning from the injured list, will make his second start of the season for Los Angeles.

For now, though, it was Webb’s night — a sharp, surgical dismantling of a team known for offensive fireworks, delivered in front of a silenced Chavez Ravine crowd.

Here’s how we blogged it:

The Dodgers are back home for ten games after beating the San Diego Nachos, 5-2, on Wednesday to take their 14th series of the season and record a Major League-leading 22nd comeback victory. Tonight the team returns to Chavez Ravine for a season-high 10-game homestand, with games against the San Francisco Giants, the Padres (June 16-19) and the Washington Nationals (June 20-22).

At 41-28 (.594), the Dodgers hold a 1.0-game lead in the National League West over the San Francisco Giants and a 2.0-game lead over the Padres. The club is 4.0 games behind the New York Mets (45-24) for the best record in the National League. The Dodgers have Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound with Logan Webb on the mound for Los Gigantes.
