More than 30 local residents from Sierra Madre, Arcadia, and Pasadena, gathered Sunday evening for a celebration of life for Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died Friday at 87.
The peaceful gathering and vigil took place at Kersting Court at the corner of Sierra Madre and North Baldwin Avenue in Sierra Madre, and was organized by two groups—Sierra Madre for Racial Justice and SMART (Sierra Madre Activists Rebuilding Together).
Participant and co-organizer Lauren Pressman said Sunday evening, “We were very pleased at the turnout and we received lots of positive responses from motorists and passersby.”
Pressman added that she was a longtime follower and supporter of Justice Bader Ginsburg, saying “She was such a brilliant mind and her loss is such a sad thing, and for this to happen during this time, is all the more devastating.”
But, as she noted of the masked gathering, “It always feels better to share times like these with friends and like minded.”
