Tetra Tech Inc. in Pasadena has secured a $94 million contract from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to provide emergency response services across EPA Region 7, which covers the states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, and nine tribal nations.
The seven-year agreement makes the consulting and engineering firm the sole contractor for the Superfund Technical Assessment & Response Team program in the region.
A company statement said Tetra Tech will deploy scientists, engineers and technical specialists to handle various emergencies. These include chemical and hazardous materials releases, oil spills, industrial accidents and natural disasters.
The company’s teams will oversee cleanup actions and perform contaminated site assessments. They will also conduct training and community outreach programs, the statement continued.
Technical specialists will use new technologies to collect and share real-time field data. The information will help support decision-making during emergency situations.
“Tetra Tech has supported EPA’s START program for 30 years, providing technical services in 36 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia,” said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO.
“We are pleased to continue using our Leading with Science approach to support EPA in preparing for and responding to emergencies, protecting human health and the environment, and keeping communities safe and secure,” Batrack said.
The company has been recognized as a leader in water, environment and sustainable infrastructure services. Tetra Tech employs 30,000 people worldwide and provides consulting and engineering services for global projects.
