Pasadena-based Los Angeles Children’s Chorus (LACC) has appointed architect Elizabeth Moule and Dr. Elizabeth Voxman, a retired medical professional and accomplished community volunteer, to its Board of Directors, following their unanimous election last month.
Kai Ryssdal, Chair of the LACC Board of Directors, welcomed Moule and Voxman to the Board.
“When the Board considered their professional backgrounds and affinities for our mission, it was immediately clear both would be stellar additions,” Ryssdal said. “I speak for the entire Board in saying we look forward to working with them to continue building LACC’s future under the leadership of Maestro Malvar-Ruiz.”
A native of California, Moule holds degrees from Princeton University, Smith College, and attended the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York City. She is a cofounder of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU), a national organization aimed at integrating social, environmental, economic, aesthetic, and policy aspects of urbanism, and is an emeritus member of its Board of Directors.
A founding partner of Moule & Polyzoides, Architects and Urbanists, she is a national leader in environmental sustainability and designed the Robert Redford Building for the Natural Resources Defense Council in Santa Monica.
Moule’s experience ranges from the design of educational, institutional, commercial, and civic buildings to historic rehabilitation, housing, campus planning, and large urban design projects at all scales. She has taught on an invited guest teaching basis at several universities including the University of Miami, University of Washington, USC, KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) in Stockholm, and most recently was appointed the Robert A. M. Stern Chair at Yale University.
Dr. Voxman worked for six years as an obstetrician/gynecologist with San Gabriel Valley Perinatal Medical Group. As a community volunteer, she has served a variety of organizations, including Valentine School, San Marino Unified School District PTA, Partnership for Awareness, the Girl Scouts, The Martine Cotillions, San Marino Garden Club, and Westridge School.
Dr. Voxman is a graduate of Amherst College and Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. She completed her Ob/Gyn residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center and a Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship at LA County Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Her daughter, Reagan, is currently a member of LACC’s Concert Choir.
LACC continues its robust 2021-2022 season with two Spring Concerts at Pasadena Presbyterian Church on May 15 and May 22, on the heels of its winning a Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance for its performance on the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s new Mahler Symphony No. 8 album.
Other upcoming performances include a six-concert tour to Mexico from June 18 to 28 and LACC’s return to the Hollywood Bowl on July 28 for a performance of Carl Orff’s cantata, “Carmina Burana,” with Maestro Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
During the fall and winter, the LACC returned to in-person learning for its more than 320 choristers and conducted a half dozen live performances across Los Angeles after an 18-month hiatus.
