A man was assaulted from behind by two attackers who punched him and stole his backpack  late Wednesday night in Old Pasadena.
Police say that one of the robbers held the victim in a headlock and struck him  in the head repeatedly as the other pulled off the victim’s backpack in the 11:08 p.m. attack, which took place near the corner of So. DeLacey Ave. and W. Dayton St.
The pair of robbers then escaped, jumping into a waiting nearby car occupied by at least one other suspect.
The victim received only minor injuries. During the attack, his eyeglasses were knocked to the ground. This prevented the victim from providing police with a detailed description of the attackers, Pasadena police Sgt. Victor Alaniz said.
What is known, Alaniz said, is that the suspect who punched the victim is a black man approximately 23 to 25 years of age who stands about 6′ Â 1″. The car was a four door sedan.
The victim reported that the stolen backpack contained his wallet and passport.
Alaniz said that detectives are continuing to investigate and that witnesses should call police at (626) 744-4241.
