All Metrolink trains will be out of service for four days from Tuesday, December 26 through Friday, December 29, and resume regular service on Saturday, December 30, according to an announcement on the Metrolink website.
All LA Metro subways, light-rail trains, and buses will operate as usual out of Union Station during that period.
The Metrolink shutdown is part of a planned maintenance and repair operation.
Metrolink said the closure will allow for cleaning, repair, and upgrades to the rail network, including a new signal system for better operational throughput and reliability at Union Station.
The closure will enable the implementation of the SCORE L.A. Union Station Modernization Project, a three-year project to update all track and signal systems where trains enter and exit at LAUS.
Metrolink said it is modernizing its rail network in part to prepare for the upcoming World Cup, Olympics, and Paralympics.
During the closure, Metrolink will provide updates and customer support. Riders can check out FAQs or contact the Customer Service team for assistance.
Metrolink is not providing alternative transportation. The agency said it intends to collaborate with several other transportation agencies so commuters have alternatives during this period.
Updates on these alternatives will be provided on Metrolink’s system shutdown web page.
