Three major Pasadena intersections each reported five vehicle collisions during a recent six-month period, according to Police Department data released in a community brief.
Lake Avenue at Villa Street, San Gabriel Boulevard at La Tierra Street, and California Boulevard at Euclid Avenue each documented five collisions, positioning them as the city’s highest-collision locations.
Analysis of primary crash factors revealed improper turning as the leading cause of collisions, accounting for 25.3% of incidents. Unsafe speed contributed to 18.2% of crashes, while traffic signal and sign violations were responsible for 14.1% of accidents.
“Officers from the Pasadena Police Department continually provide service to these intersections and other intersections throughout the city to minimize the amounts of collisions that occur,” according to a Police statement.
The Department emphasized that the data reflects only collisions reported to the Pasadena Police Department and is subject to change as reports are initiated or reclassified.
Police urged drivers to “slow down, stay off their phone, minimize distractions, and obey all traffic laws and signage” to reduce collision risks.
