Pasadena Police officers arrested a man who they said was pounding on cars and obstructing traffic as he walked in the middle of the roadway on Colorado Boulevard near Oak Knoll Avenue in Pasadena early Friday morning.

The man was reported to be endangering himself and other people and vehicles on the road. The incident was reported at 12:01 a.m.

“Officers responded to the area of Colorado and Oak Knoll on a report of a man walking in the middle of the roadway, shouting at passing cars and appearing to be agitated,” Pasadena Police Lt. Mark Goodman said. “As officers were responding, the suspect … struck a vehicle on Colorado Blvd. with his body. He was pounding the hood or other parts of the vehicle with his hand and actually damaged the vehicle pretty significantly.”

Goodman said when officers arrived, the suspect confronted them physically and had to be subdued through the use of a Taser. The suspect was injured in the lower left leg during the confrontation.

“No officers were injured during the incident, and no citizens were injured. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance,” Goodman added.

The suspect was identified as Jack Luquin, 34, from La Crescenta.

After he was medically cleared, officers arrested him for felony vandalism and for obstructing the officers in the performance of their duties, Goodman said.
