A burst water pipe flooded the third and fourth floors of the Rose Bowl Pavilion and forced the evacuation of personnel around 10:51 p.m. Saturday after tens of thousands of spectators had left the stadium following the UCLA vs. Nevada game.
“We don’t know the extent of the damage,” Rose Bowl Chief Operating Officer George Cunningham said Sunday afternoon. “We’re assessing the situation today. All we can say is that we’re operational again.”
Cunningham said he hopes full repairs can be implemented over “the next three weeks before our next major event comes up.”
Pasadena Fire Dept. personnel reported that a water pipe had burst on the fourth floor of the Pavilion and a responding team of over 20 firefighters and officers shut off the water and assisted with cleanup.
Cunningham said the pipe which burst was located on the D level of the Pavilion in the Club Lounge.
The Rose Bowl has not yet released any official damage estimates.
Cunningham said a meeting will be held Tuesday morning with Rose Bowl contractors and subcontractors to find out the full extent of the damage and to establish the timeline for repairs.
In spite of the setback, Cunningham sounded upbeat.
It was a great weekend overall, he said. “UCLA won!”
