Pacific Oaks College Presents “Untold Truths: Black History and Identity Development” for Black History Month

Pacific Oaks College (PO) presents “Untold Truths: Black History and Identity Development”, a historical account on the origin and evolution of Black History Month. One of several community events hosted at PO, the presentation will include fascinating and politically relevant facts of the contributions Africans and African-Americans have made in the fields of science, math, education, and medicine. There will also be a discussion on slavery and its impact on the cultural identity of African-Americans.

The event will feature Dr. Donald Grant, Associate Dean for the School of Human Development at PO. Prior to becoming Associate Dean, Grant was the Director of Clinical Training for PO’s School of Cultural and Family Psychology. In this role, he coached students through their professional transition within the PO principles of social justice and cultural competency. Dr. Grant lead a conference workshop at this year’s African American Mental Health Conference (AAMHC), hosted by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH). Grant is also a contributor for EBONY Magazine.
