Parking Open Houses Scheduled For Wednesday

The City will host two parking open house events this week. 

Members of the public have the option to attend the morning open house, 9-11 a.m., or the evening open house, 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 790 E. Colorado Blvd. in the ground floor conference center for community members to learn more about the proposed paid parking program in Playhouse Village and to showcase pay station options to be installed at on-street parking locations. 

City staff and parking professionals will be on site to answer questions, and pay station options will be set up for the public to interact with and provide feedback.

The goal of the paid parking program is to create more on-street parking availability for Playhouse Village customers, residents and visitors. 

The City has been working closely with the Playhouse Village Association and parking consultants Dixon Resources Unlimited to conduct a paid parking study. Community feedback is a key component of the study and will be factored into the final recommendations.

Factors such as increased delivery services have put a strain on the on-street parking availability, while many parking spaces in off-street locations are underutilized. 

The paid parking program will bring balance to the parking experience in Playhouse Village, one of the last downtown areas without paid parking. Benefits will be offered to downtown visitors, including merchant validations.
