A 27-year-old local man was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of burglarizing a Pasadena Southwest Little League snack shed at Allendale Park, stealing more than $4,000 worth of baseball gear and power tools, police said.

The break-in occurred last Saturday, July 26, in the 1100 block of Marengo Avenue, leaving young ballplayers and coaches reeling after the theft disrupted summer activities.

Security footage captured a man scouting the shed and inspecting equipment before the burglary.

The league posted the images to Facebook, asking the public for help identifying the suspect.

That appeal, along with community tips, helped detectives and patrol officers locate and arrest Freddy Solario Jr., of Pasadena, who has a prior criminal history, officials said.

Police served a search warrant July 30 and reportedly recovered some of the stolen items. Solario was booked on suspicion of burglary; formal charges are pending review by the Pasadena District Attorney’s Office.

“Their assistance was vital in bringing closure to a crime that impacted summer activities and the well-being of so many youth who rely on this equipment to play on,” Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris said in a statement.

The league said the stolen items included baseball gear and supplies as well as power tools.
