Pasadena City College honored its Class of 2024 during the 98th annual commencement ceremony held at Robinson Stadium on Friday, June 14.
The event celebrated the achievements of over 4,000 graduates, with nearly 60% being women.
The ceremony showcased the diversity of the graduating class, which included students from 32 countries and several veterans. Dr. José A. Gómez, Superintendent / President of PCC, addressed the graduates, highlighting the historic nature of their graduation as the college approaches its centennial year.
“Take a moment to soak it in and celebrate your achievements,” Gomez said, noting the institution’s growth from 270 students in 1924 to over 26,000 today.
Henry Ramos, an associate’s degree recipient in history, delivered the student commencement speech. He emphasized the value of education and the support systems at PCC, describing the college as his “sanctuary.”
The ceremony featured musical performances by the PCC Lancer Concert Band, including pieces from “Star Wars,” John Lennon’s “Imagine,” and “Raise Me Up.” Graduates celebrated by smiling, hugging, taking selfies, and displaying messages on their caps.
Each graduate received four guest tickets for the ticketed event, which was also live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
