The City of Pasadena Commission on the Status of Women will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, December 4 at 6:00 p.m. and is scheduled to discuss promoting equal pay initiatives and advancing opportunities for women in the community.
A key agenda item includes a presentation on the Equal Pay Pledge Initiative received from the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. It will be delivered by Vice Chair Maura Harrington Roggero and Commissioner Jill Thompson.
The Commission votes on requesting City Council acknowledge women’s accomplishments and challenges through periodic proclamations. Several are tentatively scheduled, including Women’s History Month recognition on Monday, February 24, 2025, Sexual Assault Awareness Month on Monday, April 7, 2025, and Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October 2025.
Recreation and Community Services Superintendent Leticia Lopez is scheduled to present a mid-year review of the Commission’s fiscal year 2024-2025 budget.
The Commission will also review updates to its Work Plan, which focuses on two main objectives: advising City Council and empowering women.
The meeting follows October’s successful “Light A Candle” event for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which drew approximately 100 attendees. Future presentations planned include updates from the Pasadena Women & Non-Binary Soccer League and sessions on supporting female small business owners and unhoused residents.
The meeting will be held at Jackie Robinson Community Center, 1020 North Fair Oaks Avenue. The public can participate in two ways: providing in-person comments by submitting a speaker card before specific agenda items, or submitting advance written correspondence to jwhitmore@cityofpasadena.
