The Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF) Board of Directors has officially endorsed Measures R + EE, which will be on the ballot for the November 2024 election, saying the Board believes the measures “are crucial for the continued success and improvement of the Pasadena Unified School District.”
Measure R is a bond measure that will authorize $900 million to address infrastructure needs within PUSD. The funds will be used to modernize classrooms and laboratories, repair and replace aging roofs, upgrade deteriorating electrical and HVAC systems and provide housing on a disused campus.
Measure EE is a parcel tax that will generate approximately $5 million annually for eight years. The funds will be allocated to support essential academic programs, expand Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) classes, enhance career and technical education offerings, and provide wages for teachers and staff.
“This measure aims to ensure that our students learn from the best educators available,” the Board said.
PEF Board President Erik Berg expressed his “strong support” for these measures, saying, “Endorsing Measures R + EE is an investment in our children’s future. These measures will not only help maintain our district’s high academic standards but also ensure that our facilities meet the needs of modern education. By supporting these measures, we are committing to provide our students with the resources they need to thrive.”
The Pasadena Educational Foundation encourages all community members to participate in the upcoming election and vote in favor of Measures R + EE.
