Pasadena Fire Department personnel returned Friday evening from nearly two weeks in Northern California fighting the Dixie Fire.
“Staff are well and looking forward to a much deserved rest,” according to a Fire Dept. statement.
Two Captains, one engineer and two firefighters were part of Strike Team XLC-1201A, according to officials. The team was deployed on August 29.
The Dixie Fire, which ignited on July 13, had burned over 950,591 acres in the Lassen National Forest as of Friday afternoon. It was reportedly 59% contained. The cause is under investigation.
The fire has resulted in structure damage, evacuation orders, and evacuation warnings. Many roads are closed, as are the national forests. Air quality in the nearby communities has been unhealthy due to smoke.
The Fire Dept. also reported there was no significant damage to tools and equipment. Pasadena was assisting the U.S. Forest Service and Cal Fire under mutual aid pacts.
