Several Pasadena-based companies earned prominent recognition in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2026 edition of The Lists, highlighting the city’s growing influence across environmental engineering, franchising, bioscience, cybersecurity and professional services.
Among the top honorees, Tetra Tech ranked No. 1 on the publication’s list of Environmental Engineering and Consulting Firms, while Dine Brands Global claimed the No. 1 position among Top Franchisers.
East West Bank was ranked third in Corporate Philanthropy, reflecting what city officials described as a strong blend of business success and civic engagement.
Pasadena’s life sciences and technology sectors were also well represented. Xencor and Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals were named among the region’s Top Bioscience Companies, while AllSafe IT and PACT-One Solutions were recognized among Top Cybersecurity Companies. Lagerlof LLP appeared on the list of Top Law Firms.
Major employers ACCO Engineered Systems and Inter-Con Security were cited among Top Private Companies, and Pasadena’s hospitality sector was represented by The Langham Huntington and The Westin Pasadena, both of which were named among Top Hotels.
“This recognition reflects the strength and diversity of Pasadena’s business community, from global leaders to growing companies,” Economic Development Director David Klug said in a statement. “We welcome businesses across the region to explore opportunities in Pasadena and learn more about what Pasadena can offer.”
Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO Dan Batrack said the ranking reflects the company’s evolution from a small Pasadena startup into a global firm with more than 25,000 employees.
“Since Tetra Tech’s founding in Pasadena 60 years ago, we have grown from a startup with four research professors to a global technical leader focused on Leading with Science® and advanced technology,” Batrack said. “While Tetra Tech has grown into a global company, we continue to use our high-end consulting expertise to improve communities across Los Angeles.”
He cited work ranging from water scarcity solutions to helping communities recover from the 2025 Los Angeles fires.
Lagerlof Managing Partner Joshua Driskell said his firm’s inclusion among the region’s top law firms reflects long-term investment in talent and service.
“This recognition reflects the commitment of our attorneys and staff, whose depth of experience and client-focused mindset are at the heart of our continued growth,” Driskell said.
City officials said the latest rankings underscore Pasadena’s role as a hub for innovation and enterprise, supported by a collaborative business climate and a high quality of life that continues to attract companies across industries.
