Pasadena Jamba Juice Reopened After Health Department Closure

Published on Monday, April 11, 2016 | 9:45 am

Pasadena health inspectors have repermitted a Pasadena juicery on South Lake Avenue after an earlier closure for what they said were major violations of the California Health and Safety Code.

Specifically, the inspectors said they had ordered the health permit of Jamba Juice, located at 204 S. Lake Avenue in Pasadena, suspended and the facility closed due to “an imminent health hazard.”

The inspectors listed the violations as “inability to properly clean and sanitize, improper disposal of liquid waste, and no employee facilities.”

Inspectors visited the juicery on Friday, April 8 and said they observed waste water overflowing from the floor sink “due to the clogged drain at the ware wash sink.” They also reported seeing that “the only available restroom in the facility was out of order at the time of inspection.”

“According to the operator, it (the restroom) has been inoperable for a few months and all the employees have been using the neighbor’s restroom instead,” the inspection report said.

Inspectors allowed the juicery to reopen after a re-inspection.

The closure order affects only the Jamba Juice location at 204 S. Lake Avenue, Pasadena and no other locations.
