Lagerlof Cares, the charitable extension of Lagerlof, LLP in Pasadena, has donated $25,000 to AbilityFirst, a nonprofit organization serving people with developmental disabilities, following a successful fundraising event.
AbilityFirst stands alongside people with developmental disabilities and their families, creating welcoming environments where participants are supported to achieve their personal best.
The donation came from proceeds of Lagerlof Cares’ fourth annual golf tournament, held at Brookside Golf Club on Nov. 15, which featured contests, auctions, raffles and multiple activities.
The event expanded this year to include a wine-tasting experience in partnership with Arguax, drawing 100 golfers, 30 wine-tasting participants, and 162 total attendees for cocktails and dinner.
“We have a strong desire, as a leader in our community, to support organizations who are truly making a difference in the lives of our community members,” said Joshua Driskell, Managing Partner of Lagerlof, LLP.
AbilityFirst CEO Dr. Sergio Rizzo-Fontanesi emphasized the organization’s foundational principles.
“AbilityFirst was built on the ethos of possibility and that is what resonates with all of us,” he said.
The tournament garnered support from numerous local businesses, including Gable Tax Consulting, Shuster Financial, Vimvi, Northern Trust, IMA Financial Group, and over a dozen other corporate sponsors.
Local partners enhanced the event experience, with StretchLab Pasadena, Cigars by Chivas, Chik-Fil-A Pasadena, Custom Comfort Mattress, and Tesla Pasadena providing services and displays.
Lagerlof Cares maintains its status as a 501(c)(3) organization that intends to build a stronger, more connected community through local nonprofit investment.
