The Pasadena Police Department’s Baker to Vegas (B2V) team has won the Challenge Cup Relay Race National Art Competition, officials announced on Wednesday. The team collaborated with local graphic designer Sonia Rodriguez to create a winning design for the 2025 race, which draws runners from law enforcement agencies.

The red, white, and blue vintage-inspired artwork will be showcased on the official Baker to Vegas T-shirt and marketing materials. As part of their victory, the team received a $500 prize to be applied towards their entry fee for next year’s event.

The annual Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay, scheduled for April 5-6, 2025, is a grueling 120-mile race that draws over 6,000 runners from law enforcement agencies. The event aims to foster teamwork, camaraderie, physical fitness, and healthy competition among participants.

Starting in Baker, runners follow a demanding route through desert communities including Shoshone and Pahrump, and mountain passes before finishing on the Las Vegas strip. The race begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 5, with teams departing hourly from the starting point on Highway 127.

The course takes runners over Ibex Pass to Shoshone, then along Highway 178 to Pahrump. From there, participants climb to Mountain Springs Summit at an elevation of 5,600 feet before descending to sprint to the finish line on the Las Vegas strip.

Pasadena’s team, consisting of 20 officers, will compete against other law enforcement agencies in the endurance event. Race results will be announced on April 7.

The Baker to Vegas relay has become a longstanding tradition in the law enforcement community, challenging participants both physically and mentally. The Pasadena Police Department takes part in this arduous tradition each year, and their victory in the art competition adds an extra layer of excitement to their participation in the upcoming race.
