Pasadena Chief Eugene Harris confirmed that three Pasadena police officers were disciplined in June. A video that showed the officers drinking was made public earlier this week and has been shared across social media.
“In late March 2023, the Police Department received a complaint from former Pasadena Police Officer Omar Elhosseiny about on-duty PPD Officers consuming alcohol at a birthday party,” Harris said in a statement released to Pasadena Now late Tuesday night.
According to Harris, the party was held at the former officer’s home in January.
Harris said the department began investigating the incident in March. The chief made his disciplinary decisions based on the findings of that investigation in June.
Harris confirmed to Pasadena Now early Wednesday morning that five on-duty personnel including a supervisor were present at the party.
The Department’s investigation confirmed that three of them violated department policy when they consumed alcohol at the event.
The three unnamed officers have subsequently received discipline imposed by Harris.
“The policies are very clear as are the expectations of professional conduct,” Harris said. “The imposition of discipline, in this case, is indicative of expected conduct and sound department culture moving forward. I’m very disappointed in the officers’ conduct and have made expectations clear, as a matter of course.”
State law bars Harris from revealing personnel information on the matter, including the officer’s names of the discipline the officers received.
